World Class Entertainer Tony Tillman Performs His Tribute To Sammy Davis, Jr. "Strictly Sammy"
Tony Tillman is truly a dynamic entertainer. Often compared to Sammy Davis and Ben Vereen, this Baltimore native, who now lives in Las Vegas, has traveled the world giving knockout performances to enthusiastic crowds. Tony Tillman's fast-paced and energetic style helped him secure an opening act spot with Bill Cosby that lasted over ten years.
Tony Tillman's versatility, powerful voice and incredible stage presence have garnered him accolades from all quarters of the entertainment press.
Tony Tillman's early entertainment years were spent as a member of a popular singing group known as 'New Censation'. Their stand out vocals took them to Europe where they performed in some of the most prestigious supper clubs with such international notables as Victor Borge, who invited the group to perform with him for the Queen of Denmark.
It was while in Europe that Tony Tillman met the man who would have the most impact on his entertainment future - Sammy Davis, Jr!! It was Sammy who Inspired him to step out as a solo artist, giving him the desire to always leave the audience standing.
And because of that commitment to always do his best, Tony Tillman has received raves for his performances in venues as diverse as Harrah's Hotel in Atlantic City, the Hotel Presidente in Helsinki, Finland, Caesars Place in Las Vegas, the mega-ships of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and corporate shows for major companies like Hewlett-Packard, NCO and ERA Realty.
But Tony Tillman's biggest challenge came in 1999 when he was asked to join the cast of a new show in Las Vegas. That show, the brainchild of teen idol David Cassidy and TV producer Don Reo was 'The Rat Pack Is Back', the hip tribute to the 60's era icons, Frank, Sammy, Dean and Joey. Tony again proved his worth by delivering a well-rounded and exciting portrayal of his hero, receiving heartfelt praise from the one person who knew Sammy the best, his wife Altovise.
And now, after appearing in 'Rat Pack' for over 18 months, Tony Tillman once again steps out to take on a new challenge. His exciting new production 'Strictly Sammy', is a celebration of the life and music of Mr. Sammy Davis, Jr. The show is unique in that it is a celebration of Sammy, not an impersonation. Delivering the music, the dance, and the style of his idol, Tony Tillman shows that he is the ultimate Sammy fan.
After performing the 'Strictly Sammy' show, Tony Tillman has been approached by the Sammy Davis, Jr. Foundation to begin a lecture tour, which will be sponsored by the Foundation. The show will tour Colleges and Performing Arts Centers in the United States and abroad, per the request of Altovise Davis, Sammy's widow.
